Pump Learning

Pumplearning.org is a free online education platform dedicated to teaching professionals in the water and wastewater industry about pump system basics, maintenance, and optimization.

Our goal is to make quality pump system education accessible to water and wastewater plant operators, mechanics, engineers, and managers in order to improve knowledge and skills related to pumping processes. By providing a centralized hub for pump learning resources, we hope to support cleaner and more efficient water infrastructure across communities.

The educational materials on Pumplearning.org cover topics such as pump terminology, reading pump curves, seal and bearing maintenance, motor basics, pipeline design considerations, system optimization techniques, and more. The content is designed to provide a mix of theoretical explanations and practical, actionable advice that professionals can apply in their day-to-day work.

New free modules aimed at both beginning and experienced pump system operators are added regularly. Users can progress through the content at their own pace or focus on select modules most relevant to their current learning needs. Practice quizzes and downloadable off-line materials reinforce key learnings for those on the go.

The website was founded in 2020 by a group of water industry engineers and technical trainers who identified a need for a centralized hub focused specifically on professional education around pumping systems. The trainers have decades of combined experience working across municipal and industrial settings.

We welcome industry partners interested in contributing educational modules as well as plant sites looking to supplement internal training programs. If you have expertise to lend or stories to share, please reach out!
